Headline Fiction & Book Buffet - Maggie by Katie Yee

When the narrator discovers her husband’s affair with a woman named Maggie, she’s soon faced with a second blow: a breast cancer diagnosis. She names her tumor Maggie too. As she navigates grief, motherhood, and recovery, she finds healing through humour, storytelling, and cultural reconnection.  With echoes of Jenny Offill and Nora Ephron, this is a sharp, tender exploration of resilience, reinvention, and the absurdity of it all.

Lit fit - Pan by Michael Clune

Pan is a sharp, funny, and surreal coming-of-age debut about a teenage boy unraveling at the seams. Fifteen-year-old Nicholas, struggling with anxiety and isolation in the Chicago suburbs, starts to believe that the Greek god Pan is living inside him. As he and his friends search for meaning in art and literature, the novel explores adolescence, mental health, and the strange, mythic forces that shape who we are. A bold, introspective journey into the chaos of growing up.

Light & Easy - The Healing Hippo of Hinode Park by Michiko Aoyama

Margot’s life is upended when she gets an email from her best friend Tess—who died twenty years ago. Suddenly she’s off to London, fulfilling the trip they never took, scattering Tess’s ashes and completing a list of unexpected tasks… all alongside Leo, Tess’s infuriating (and oddly charming) stepbrother. Warm, funny and full of heart, this is a story about lost dreams, unexpected detours, and the second chances we never see coming.

Bookety Club - The New Age of Sexism by Laura Bates

The New Age of Sexism by Laura Bates is a powerful investigation into how AI and emerging technologies are entrenching misogyny and inequality. From deepfake porn to online abuse in schools, Bates uncovers how these tools are being shaped by and reinforcing existing power structures—primarily benefiting wealthy, white men. She argues that without urgent action, these technologies will cement a future built on discrimination. This is a rallying cry to fight for a more equitable digital world before it’s too late.

Twists & Turns - Flashlight by Susan Choi

Flashlight is a powerful generational novel about a family shattered by loss. When ten-year-old Louisa’s father disappears one summer evening in post-war Japan, the event reverberates through her life and across continents. Longlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize, Flashlight is a haunting exploration of memory, identity, and the quiet devastation of grief.

Real Reads - America Day by Day by Simone de Beauvoir

America Day by Day is Simone de Beauvoir’s vivid, personal journal of her 1947 road trip across the United States. Travelling coast to coast, she captures the contradictions of postwar America—its energy and openness alongside its inequality and segregation. Intimate, sharp, and endlessly readable, this is a rare glimpse of America through the eyes of one of the 20th century’s great thinkers.

Translated Treasures - The Letter Carrier by Francesca Giannone

The Letter Carrier is a heartfelt historical novel set in 1930s southern Italy. When Anna, a bold and unconventional woman from the North, arrives in a conservative village with her husband Carlo, she stirs curiosity and resistance. As the town’s first female postwoman, she becomes a quiet force of connection—delivering letters, secrets, and hope. But beneath the surface lies a simmering love story marked by past heartbreak, jealousy, and a marriage tested by long-buried truths.
